TORONTO – Iconic Kentucky Straight Bourbon, Maker’s Mark, is pleased to announce its first-ever Canadian brand partnership with Solios Watches (‘Solios’), an industry leader in solar-powered watches. In the spirit of giving back while building an inclusive and sustainable economy, the two trailblazing brands have teamed up to create a limited-edition co-branded watch, demonstrating that you do not have to sacrifice style to make a positive impact.
Officially launching today, the two B Corp-certified brands are releasing the limited-edition Maker’s Mark x Solios Watch. Based on Solios’ best-selling Solar Curve design, the co-branded premium timepiece is made of recycled stainless steel and features a second hand in the Maker’s Mark signature red colour, black eco-vegan leather strap, and Solios’ solar-powered watch movement. The back of each watch face is engraved with the Maker’s Mark logo and the watch’s unique production number, highlighting its authenticity. When purchased, Canadians will receive a luxury kit made of 100% recyclable packaging, containing the exclusive watch and a Maker’s Mark-branded rocks glass.
The partnership with Solios is one of the many ways Maker’s Mark has committed to pioneering social and environmental initiatives. As part of its ‘Make Your Mark. Leave No Trace.’ mission, Maker’s Mark is proud to execute innovative projects at its property on Star Hill Farm to preserve the natural resources that go into making its bourbon, such as a distillery-wide zero landfill program and implementing a solar array that powers its warehouse complex. “Partnering with Solios has been a fantastic experience,” says Megan Cuff, Brand Manager at Beam Suntory. “The release of the Maker’s Mark x Solios Watch symbolizes the future of sustainable craftsmanship and what is possible when brands commit to doing good.”
Montreal-based Solios was founded with the goal to secure a brighter future through solar-powered watch technology. In addition to its commitment to renewable energy, every step of Solios’ watch-making process is designed with sustainability in mind, from its materials to its packaging. “Solios shares its core values with Maker’s Mark, and we are dedicated to demonstrating that both fashion-forward design and protecting the planet can go hand in hand,” remarks Samuel Leroux, Co-Founder of Solios. “With the release of the Maker’s Mark x Solios Watch, we are proud to raise a glass to the fusion of sustainability and sophistication, empowering individuals to make planet-positive choices while savouring every moment.”
Only 146 of the co-branded watch kits will be available for purchase via Solios’ website for $390, plus applicable taxes and shipping.
In 1953, in Loretto, Ky., Bill Samuels, Sr., fulfilled his dream to create a handmade and delicious bourbon. He decided to make his whisky in small batches, using soft red winter wheat to enhance the softness and sweetness. He then rotated each barrel by hand for consistency and, finally, aged each barrel to taste. Bill Samuels, Sr., transformed bourbon from a "commodity" into a premium handmade spirit, and today Maker's Mark continues to make its bourbon the same way. That time-tested approach seems to still be working just fine 60+ years later, as Maker's Mark Kentucky Straight Bourbon was awarded a Double Gold medal at the esteemed San Francisco Spirits Competition in 2021 and a Gold Medal at the International Spirits Challenge in 2022. In recent years, Maker's Mark has introduced thoughtful, super-premium innovations to its portfolio, including Maker's Mark 46, Maker's Mark Cask Strength and Maker's Mark Private Selection, the brand's first-ever custom barrel program.
